Calcification of large benthic foraminifers

Apply

Project Description

The calcification process of large benthic foraminifers is still far from understood. This, however, is relevant for gaining an understanding of the role of those foraminifers for the carbonate budget of tropical and subtropical coastlines. Here we study the biomineralisation behaviour of cultured foraminifers under varying conditions in an experimental setup.

Desired Project Deliverables

The VSRP will be in charge of running the experiment and will need to bring experience to be able to deliver this, and for analyzing the samples by optical imagery as well as the experimental data. The observations and interpretation will be presented as a comprehensive report.
